A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with the shooting that left a teenager dead at a Las Vegas house party earlier this month.
Police identified the suspect as Elijah Belt-Campbell. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Friday and is facing one count of open murder with a deadly weapon, along with criminal gang enhancements.
The victim, 16-year-old Jayden Collins of North Las Vegas, was killed on August 5. The shooting happened outside a home on Bonita Vista Street, near North Durango Drive and West Ann Road. According to Metro police, a fight broke out during the party, which escalated into gunfire.
Unfortunately, Jayden died at the scene.
Investigators have not released details about what evidence led to Belt-Campbellโs arrest, but the charges point to prosecutors treating the case as gang-related. The 17-year-old made his first court appearance Saturday, where a judge reviewed the question of bail.
