Its #operationmakeakidsmile! The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation (Burn Foundation) have one mission each year, and that is #operationmakekidsmile, their mantra for the annual Fill The Fire Truck Toy Drive, which kicks off on December 3 through December 19. Active firefighters and their families volunteer at various Walmart locations across the valley to collect toys and gift cards, which provide over 30 organizations, community programs, and schools with toys for the children and youth they serve. This equates to bringing a smile to 28,000 kids and youth.
The Burn Foundation has been collecting toys and donations for the community since 2003. What started as an idea for one holiday season has grown into the largest event the Burn Foundation hosts each year, with over 20 active firefighters who volunteer their time year after year to help collect, sort, and distribute the toys to the organizations in time for the holidays.
The Burn Foundation will be at five Walmart locations in each part of the city with a fire truck and firefighters greeting at the door each weekend (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday) starting December 3 through December 19. They will be collecting toys, gift cards, and donations for boys and girls ages 5 – 18. They have 28,000 kids on their list to provide a smile for this holiday season.
“This is my favorite project each year to be able to give thousands of kids a smile on their face like they have never had before with one gift is priceless” – Keith Armington – Executive Director of The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation.
